The Gym Orientation - Its purpose, its history and why it is good for gyms and bad for members
I am here to set the record straight on gym orientations. If anyone wants to challenge what I am about to say feel free to do so and I will post your response. Most gym orientations are not design to help or to empower members. Anyone reading the article that has been through one or more orientations can attest to this.
Donnie’s view of this age old training principle
We’ve come a long way from my start up days of training back in 1971. Simple rustic mom and pop gyms have given way to plush state of the art corporate gyms. The main supplement companies when I started were Joe Weider, Dan Lourie, Bob Hoffman and Beverly Hills Int. Today, I can’t begin to name all of the companies in this multi billion dollar industry.

How important is it? Who needs it? How to use it?
As a professional trainer, I cannot over emphasize the value of the health assessment.
The unique aspect of the health assessment is that it allows trainers to get to know their client from the inside out. In this business, it’s often the things you can’t see that can seriously injure clients and ruin careers.

Which split is the right one for you?
Training splits have been a forefront training issue as long as I can remember. Unlike total body training which works the entire body in one training day, training splits divide the different muscle groups to be trained over a number of training days.
