"Fitstop 24 has a great laid back atmosphere, unlike other gyms that can be stuffy or pretentious. The staff are very knowledgeable and always willing to share what they know to help you reach your goals. Unlike other gyms, they have a low turn over rate of employees so you get to see the same friendly faces every time you walk in the door, which is nice. In addition to all of that, the gym has 24 access so working out in the middle of the night is also an option, which is great for my ever changing work schedule." |

"If I had known I could lose so much weight, I would have signed up for The Biggest Loser and made an attempt to win $500,000!" said Yelm's Fit Stop 24 member, Gary Rurup. In February of 2008, Gary reluctantly accepted a birthday gift of gym membership from his sister, Zumba instructor Debbie Hilliker. It took him two months to finally swallow his pride and walk through those doors and begin the rest of his life. Like so many people, Gary was uncomfortable with his 278 pound frame and didn't want the "whole world" watching his attempt to work out. Once inside the gym, he realized that everyone there was focused on getting healthy and nobody was judging him. Gary started out slow on the treadmill and could barely make it through a 30 minute session, but he never gave up. With each passing week, he increased the speed and the length of his workouts and eventually incorporated some weight training. Encouraged by the evidence of weight loss and the incredible staff at Fit Stop 24, Gary set higher goals for himself and decided that he wanted to become a runner. This summer, Gary has run his first two races and is training to participate in the Seattle Marathon in November. He has dropped 73 pounds and has gone from wearing size 42 jeans to size 33. "I still have a little ways to go before meeting my fitness goals and body weight, but I am determined to keep plugging away at it" Gary stated. On most days, you can still find Gary at Fit Stop 24 on a treadmill putting in his 6.5 miles....and smiling!"
